About SAIKAI
In 1600, a Dutch ship from the port of Rotterdam arrived at the south island in Japan.
A general Ieyasu Tokugawa showed his interest in the ship and soon he permitted trading with the Netherlands. Since that time, for 400 years, Japan and the Netherlands have kept a good relationship.
In 2015, Saikai Trading B.V was established as the branch company of Saikai Toki in Amsterdam for European markets to deliver the selected Japanese lifestyle products, mainly Hasami porcelain in Nagasaki.

Glass
With plenty of variety, we’ve selected the surest quality in glassware from the light and delicate to the “Hard & Strong” line as well as heat resistant glass and Crystals.
Iron
Nambu Cast Iron was first made in the middle of 17th century in Iwate. Northern Japan, the area with rich material. A master from Kyoto was summoned by the lord to create an iron pot for tea ceremony, and it was the beginning of Nambu Cast Iron. It became exemplary of JapaneseTraditional Craft, and is still popular today.
Porcelain
Along with collaborations with authors as well as Saikai’s original merchandise, Hasami Porcelain series, we’ve selected from Mori Masahiro who represents Japan as a ceramic porcelain designer, a variety of vessels standard to the daily lifestyle. Bringing to you the art and tradition of past and present Japan.
Stainless Steel
From Japan’s own product designer Yanagi Sori, we’ve selected a wide assortment of beautiful, engaging and at the same time practical products. Merchandise incorporating the art and technique passed over and inherited over the years.
Wood
The NYCHAIR is beloved by many all over the world to this day, 30 years since the first introduction. We’ve selected products from Saito Woods who utilizes the technique of plywood to build its many interior goods that which are respected globally.
